Bendix's B-Level and N-Level friction materials relate to the EPA's Copper-Free Brake Initiative, which aims to reduce copper content in brake pads. B-Level, which was the focus of the second phase, requires less than 5% copper by weight, while N-Level, the current and final phase, requires less than 0.5% copper by weight. B-Level friction materials, like the Bendix BX276 and BA236, will be phased out by the end of 2024, while N-Level compliant replacements like the BX277 and BA237 will be available.
