OVERVIEW
Parts for Trucks has been an industry leader providing parts and service to the heavy-duty trucking industry for over 100 years. Operating 30 sales / warehouse outlets and 15 service facilities from coast to coast, Parts for Trucks offers a complete range of products and services for all makes of trucks and trailers.
We are currently seeking an experienced Service Manager to join our team in Halifax, NS. This is a full-time, permanent position.
Reporting to the Regional Service Manager, the position will be responsible for leading a team of technicians and support staff, ensuring customers receive high-quality service repairs.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations, scheduling, workflow, employee supervision and shop safety including inspection of tools, and equipment.
- Monitor and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by ensuring repair services are delivered promptly and to the highest quality standards.
- Schedule staff and collaborate with technicians to diagnose and resolve complex service issues, providing guidance and support when needed. Interview, hire and manage staff performance. Foster a team-oriented environment.
- Ensure accurate and complete documentation of work orders, invoices, and warranties. Monitor expenses, workflow, and shop proficiency to ensure profitability, identifying areas for improvement.
- Identify areas of improvement in service delivery, customer satisfaction and shop performance, implementing procedures and policies to streamline operations and enhance customer experience.
- Cultivate a safe work environment through regular communication including toolbox talks and ensuring adherence to applicable policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar sole as a Service Manager in a Truck and Trailer Service Shop is preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of truck and trailer systems and components. Licensed Truck & Transport Technician is strongly preferred.
- Ideally three to five years of management or supervisory experience in a comparable service operation, or relevant training at a management or supervisory level.
- Exceptional leadership and organization skills to effectively manage a team of technicians to ensure seamless workflow and high-quality standards.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities to effectively interact with clients and address their concerns.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with service management software and Microsoft Office.
- Well versed in all areas of safety applicable to the trade.
- Ability to do occasional heavy lifting (up to 80 pounds) and be physically active.
